On 2 October 2017 at 9:37 CEST, Krysten Ritten, the actress playing Jessica Jones in the Netflix series of the same, has on her Twitter account confirmed that a second season for Jessica Jones will be coming in 2018.
Marvel’s Jessica Jones series premiered back in 2015 as part a of the big Marvel Cinematic Universe, only in snippits acknowledging but not fully interacting with the movies as Marvel’s Agents of Shield. However it was directly connecting to other shows from Marvel on the Netflix platform. The storylines of other Netflix Marvel shows; Daredevil, Iron Fist, and Luke Cage, in addition to Jessica Jones, culminated together in this year’s smash up of The Defenders.
There are not many other details aside from Ritter simply posting on her Twitter that it’s happening, but the only other season 2 of Marvel’s Netflix slate, Daredevil, used the show as a launching pad for the upcoming and much anticipated The Punisher. Perhaps there is a chance that season 2 of Jessica Jones will follow in a similar pattern.
I personally find this news very positive, while I might not have been the biggest fan with the first season of Jessica Jones. There’s no denying that a second season was deserved with the way The Defenders ended.
Hopefully they can find just a good a villain as The Purple Man, portrayed by the talented David Tennant. It was probably the only thing other than Luke Cage being in it as well, that made the show watchable, he had a way to really make you fear his character from the moment you met him.
If you haven’t watched Jessica Jones, I highly recommend you doing so. Although it isn’t necessary, it will help you get a better grasp on the shared universe.
Nevertheless, what do you guys think about this? Tell me down in the comments below.
